The {{w|Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center}} and the {{w|Center for Middle East Policy}} are established. Brookings also expands outside the United States with the openings of the Brookings-Tsinghua Center in {{w|Beijing}}, and the Brookings Doha Center in {{w|Qatar}}.
