This is a redirect to a template with a longer name. It can therefore be used as a shortcut by, for example, entering the text {{R from template shortcut}}
on a page. For more information, see Wikipedia:Redirect#Template redirects.
Linking directly to this redirect is not generally a problem, although it can present confusion as to whether one is referring to this redirect or its target. Under most circumstances, there is no need to link to templates in the wp:article namespace.
