Time period Development summary
2012 John Preskill coins the term "quantum supremacy" to describe the point where quantum computers can do things that classical computers can’t.[1]
2019-08 Google uses a device with 53 qubits to solve a carefully chosen problem in 3 minutes 20 seconds, which took 2.5 days to solve with a classical computer.[1]
