* Timeline of senescence research (expansion):
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Existence value: A solid timeline about the biology of senescence can be extremely useful background to people navigating the subject.
 +
*** Time since last update: The timeline got its last minor expansion in 2018; it is mostly the same as when it was originally created in 2016. Since then, our standards for timelines and our processes for creating them have evolved quite a bit.
 +
*** Pageviews so far is a non-reason, but there is a possibility that an improved, revamped timeline can attract way more pageviews.
 +
** Suggestions for expansion (from Vipul); don't limit yourself just to these:
 +
*** Probably we should add more column(s) to classify by the theory or approach that the row is about. These columns may be blank for some rows.
 +
*** There should be more context on individual rows, including possibly some context that explains the significance and current standing. The idea is that readers reading it should have a sense of the ups and downs of specific theories in the marketplace of ideas.
 +
*** Things like Wikipedia Views, Google Trends, Google Ngram viewer
 +
*** Maybe some charts of things based on Google Scholar, research budgets, etc.
 +

 +
* Timeline of calorie restriction (new timeline, currently only a collection of links)
 +
** Vipul's reason for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Harmony with other work: This might fit well with the work on timeline of senescence research.
 +
*** Existence value: Googling for timeline of calorie restriction  does not currently surface any hits. The timeline, once completed, could be a canonical reference for people interested in how calorie restriction developed.
 +

 +
By July 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)
 +

 +
* Timeline of quantified self (perhaps rename to timeline of personal science? It may be worth looking at different potential terminology)
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Existence value: Having an official timeline of quantified self would help understand this really interesting trend/space. There are a few timelines of quantified self currently available, but most don't give a good feel for the development (e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantified_self#History https://thesocietypages.org/cyborgology/2017/04/13/what-is-the-history-of-the-quantified-self-a-history-of-part-1/ https://michaelrucker.com/well-being/brief-history-of-the-quantified-self-movement/)
 +
* Timeline of biohacking -- might be good to work on this alongside; if there's not enough distinction between this and the quantified self timeline, they could be merged into one.

 +
* Timeline of weight loss (currently partially done)
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Existence value: Having an official timeline of weight loss would help us understand this fairly important topic.
 +

 +
By September 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)
 +

 +
* Timeline of nutritional supplements (?)
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Existence value: Supplements are embraced across many branches of medicine, and are considered very importance in prophylactic medicine. It would be good to have a timeline exploring this space.
 +
* Timeline of vitamin D
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Existence value: Vitamin D may be the single most important micronutrient, as shown in its role in COVID.
 +

* Timeline of fats (or fatty acids): An in-depth timeline about the various debates surrounding saturated vs unsaturated fats, cis vs trans, omega-3 vs omega-6, partially hydrogenated oils, etc.
 +
* Timeline of proteins (or amino acids): An in-depth timeline looking at the role of various kinds of proteins in diet, and our understanding of them.

 +
* Timeline of vaccines (Expansion started on June 1, 2020): Expand, restructure, add columns and in particular make it a more useful timeline for people trying to understand vaccines in order to understand the prospects for a coronavirus vaccine.
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Pageviews: The timeline has had 500 pageviews since being published 2018-06-01. It's halfway to the 1000-pageview mark that is sufficient to trigger an expansion.
 +
*** Time since last update: The timeline was last updated 2018-06-01, so it is a little over two years old. This passes the minimum threshold of one year, but is not enough to be sufficient for an expansion.
 +
*** Topicality (almost sufficient): Vaccines are a subject of discussion these days with potential coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines in the works.
 +
** Suggestions for expansion (from Vipul):
 +
*** Cover single-dose versus multi-dose
 +
*** Role of "inactivated" or "attenuated" to distinguish vaccines from variolation, any events related to different forms of inactivation
 +
*** Distinguish different kinds of vaccines: attenuated, inactivated, inactivated with antibodies, mRNA
 +
*** Is there a distinction between vaccines on type of pathogen (virus, bacteria, protist e.g. malaria, fungus/worm)? Or based on mode of transmission (insects, water, air, human-to-human)
 +
*** Cutter incident (polio vaccine that wasn't properly inactivated)
 +
*** Risk of vaccines causing more severe form of the disease later due to antibody-dependent enhancement
 +
*** How vaccine effectiveness is measured, and effectiveness estimates
 +
*** Role of mass vaccine rollouts in curbing epidemics (?)
 +
*** Evolution of the process of testing vaccines
 +
*** Classification of vaccines based on style of administration (arm or hip injection, oral vaccine?)
 +
*** Anti-vaccine movements and vaccine mandates

* Timeline of Tesla, Inc. (expansion; give priority to incremental expansion but feel free to expand earlier content if time and interest)
 +
** Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
 +
*** Time since last update (sufficient in isolation): The timeline passes the "five years since the last update" threshold; it has not undergone any significant expansion on Timelines wiki (it was last updated on Wikipedia, and the last paid update was in 2015).
 +
*** Pageviews: The timeline has had almost 900 views on Timelines wiki as of mid-July 2020. At this rate, it should get 1,000 views by the due date of the expansion.
 +
*** Qualitative outdatedness: The subject of the timeline has had significant updates in the last few years (and its stock price has grown like crazy), to the point that the timeline feels quite outdated.

Suggested time-sensitive content
 +
With time-sensitive content, the idea may be to add a few additional important recent events to a timeline, without doing a systematic expansion. So, there may be holes in coverage. The "focused coverage period" banner on top can help to clarify the situation.

Other (not requested, not under contract, not presented for payment update):
+
For instance, let's say you last expanded a timeline in March 2019, and it covers content till March 2019. You want to add a couple of significant events in 2020. You can do so, and keep the focused coverage period as March 2019. So readers get the information that the coverage after March 2019 will be only partial, and less complete than coverage until March 2019.

Works on Subwiki
+
In some cases you may decide to do a more complete expansion while adding time-sensitive content, but this should be done only if time and mood permit.

Note: Shown here to ease activity monitoring outside timelineswiki. Remove after some time.

* Timeline of online food delivery (one of the most viewed timelines):
Note: Funding for these works hasn't been discussed, therefore this list is not presented for payment update.
+
** COVID-19 has probably boosted online food delivery a lot? This may deserve a mention.
 +
** DoorDash IPO (filed for one on November 13, IPO date still unclear)✘
 +
*** Sebastian: It filed confidentially on February 27, 2020, but maybe we should wait until it becomes effective, as it remains private as of date.
 +
*** Sebastian: let me further expand

* Timeline of GiveWell: Add 2020 top charities (requested December 7, 2020); btw, I (Vipul) am okay with doing a more complete incremental expansion which might only include a couple of additional rows, but just adding top charities is fine.

* Timeline of bicycle sharing systems (Feedback addressed with check marks):
+
Returned with feedback
** Some of the rows that should have a country column filled in have it missing
+

** Many of the rows can benefit from having the city entered parenthetically, but don't ✔
+
* Timeline of contact tracing in the COVID-19 pandemic
** The row "A number of researches relative to bicycle-sharing schemes emerges.[14]" doesn't feel clear enough (also the grammar/sentence structure feels awkward). ✔
+
** I don't see launch events for the contact tracing apps in South Korea and Vietnam; the first events I see are for things happening well after launch. Can you check on launch dates?✔
** It may be helpful to add more context for the launch of individual bike-sharing systems, e.g., any distinguishing features, and what generation they are. This is done already for a few rows, but it may be worth looking at others to see if any more context can be added. In particular, when a second bike-sharing system launches in a city that already has one, it may be worth explaining how the systems differ and why a second one was needed. ✔ (more context was added to the rows)
+
** I would love to see more events under "Userbase"✔, "Education"✔, and "Performance"✔ -- in particular "Performance"; in particular wherever possible, when we sort/group by country, we should be able to get a mini-timeline starting with mobile app launch / protocol integration, then going on to userbase and performance. Or something similar.
** Divvy in Chicago may deserve a row ✔
+
** I'm wondering if instead of a summary by year we should use smaller time periods over which to have rows? There's probably two or three periods within 2020 (initial surge, then second half of the year before vaccines) and then 2021 is the vaccine rollout period.
** There could probably be more rows on successes/failures of existing bike-sharing systems. ✔ (successes and failures were added in the same rows that indicate the system launches)
+

** More rows were added
+
* Timeline of cognitive biases (Requested on January 6, 2020)
 +
** Issa: "1753: the anthropomorphism row has "availability bias" in the bias type column. Is that because anthropomorphism is a kind of availability bias (human-like models come to mind more easily?) or should that instead say anthropomorphism?"(Sebastian:I removed the bias type till I'm certain)
 +
** Issa:"Semmelweis effect: I think this row does not explain where the name of the effect comes from. My guess is that it comes from the way people rejected Semmelweis's discovery and refused to wash hands despite evidence of it working well. It would be good to explain that."✔
 +
** Issa: "bandwagon effect: there's a row in 1848 that talks about first usage, and another one in 1906 that doesn't mention the 1848 one. If the term was coined in 1906, then maybe say something like how the idea and "jump on the bandwagon" phrase already existed, but the name of the effect was newly coined?"(Sebastian: I clarified the 1848 row, which is when the "jump on the bandwagon" phrase first appears. The term "bandwagon effect" would be coined later, in 1906,according to the info obtained.)
 +
** Issa: " is the gambler's fallacy a more specific version of the monte carlo fallacy? They seem closely related so I would mention each in the other's row."✔ (Sebastian:Although the term "Monte Carlo fallacy" originates from the best known example, it appears to be the same bias)
 +
** Issa: "1920 halo effect row: it seems like you repeat some of the info e.g. "The term was coined by psychologist Edwin Thorndike in 1920."[53][54] -- Thorndike and the year 1920 are already mentioned earlier in the row. I would integrate all the info into a coherent paragraph so that it flows better when reading."✔
 +
** Issa: "a similar thing happens in the 1927 Zerigarnik row, where e.g. the journal name is repeated twice"✔
 +
** Issa: "stereotype: 1850 vs 1922: if the 1850 meaning isn't the modern meaning (it's a little hard for me to tell since the definition given in the 1850 row is pretty vague), I would explicitly state this. Otherwise it's confusing to have two rows claiming first usage."✔/✘(Sebastian: One indicates first reference and the other the first use in the field of psychology. I could remove the 1850 row if indicated though.)
 +
** Issa: For functional fixedness row, the Einstellung effect may also be relevant (or maybe add Einstellung effect as a new row?)✔
 +
** Issa: the Stalin quote seems to be disputed, see https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Joseph_Stalin#Misattributed ✔
 +
** Issa: semantic cues: this is interesting, but is it a bias? (I'm not too clear on what the scope of the timeline is supposed to be)✔ (it's not a bias)
 +
** Issa: Risk compensation: I didn't know about the left/right example! The example I hear about most (from libertarian types?) is seatbelts vs placing a dagger on the steering wheel, which might paint a more vivid picture for readers.
 +
** Issa: Some rows don't have a period ending them, e.g. 1967.✔
 +
** Issa: I think Kahneman receiving the Nobel prize is notable (I think it's the first and possibly only time work on cognitive biases has led to a Nobel?).✔
 +
** Issa: For Ben Franklin effect, the only row is about when it was first confirmed. It seems more natural to cover when it was first proposed (which seems to be what is going on with most of the other biases)?✘ (Sebastian: First proposals are ideal, but as I couldn't find them for some biases I decided to add content naming the biases at least.)
 +
** Issa: 1976, ultimate attribution error: I think capitalizing White and Black is a bit confusing (at first I thought it was some made-up labels in a formal model, like White/Black in a game of chess).
 +
** Issa: There are two rows for the false consensus effect, both in 1977. I would combine the two into a single row.✔
 +
** Issa: 1998: the definition of implicit-association test is hard for me to understand, e.g. what is a "bipolar target"?✔
 +
** Issa: 1977, self-reference effect does not have an explanation in the rightmost column.✔
 +
** Issa: 1979, ultimate attribution error: I am a little confused by the "first established", since there is already an earlier row talking about it. Was it just a formalization before that was "not established" in some sense?✔ Sebastian: The row in 1976 describes an event prior to Pettigrew's formalization (1979) of the bias.
 +
** Issa: 1979, planning fallacy probably should have a "Belief, decision-making and behavioral" in the second column?✔
 +
** Issa: This is probably going to take a whole bunch of work, but eventually it would be nice if the rows containing specific studies that were conducted could mention whether the study has been replicated or not.
 +
** Issa: I haven't gotten there yet in the timeline, but eventually talking about how the heuristics and biases literature became more mainstream would be good (through popular nonfiction books for lay audiences, blog posts, etc). For example I was introduced to this stuff via LessWrong, and I remember that a few years later my dad bought and showed me the book "Brain Bugs" which covers similar territory. Maybe this topic deserves a separate timeline though.
 +
** Issa: 1986, bizarreness effect: I'm confused by this row because the two columns on the right seem to be saying opposite things. ✔ (Sebastian: The bizarreness effect has been disproved several times).
 +
** Issa: 1988, Information bias: the event here seems to be missing context. What is "this diagnostic problem"? How is it related to information bias?
 +
** Issa: 2004: distinction bias sounds a lot like the "less is more" one discussed previously. I think it would be good to highlight connections like this, e.g. by saying something like "A special case of the idea was previously proposed as the less is more bias, but this paper introduces a more general framework that not only includes this, but also include X, Y, Z biases" (or whatever the case may be).
 +
** 2012, subadditivity effect: I couldn't understand what this meant "an information-theoretic generative mechanism that assumes a noisy conversion of objective evidence (observation) into subjective estimates (judgment)"

Priority work from Vipul

By June 16, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of senescence research (expansion):
    • Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
      • Existence value: A solid timeline about the biology of senescence can be extremely useful background to people navigating the subject.
      • Time since last update: The timeline got its last minor expansion in 2018; it is mostly the same as when it was originally created in 2016. Since then, our standards for timelines and our processes for creating them have evolved quite a bit.
      • Pageviews so far is a non-reason, but there is a possibility that an improved, revamped timeline can attract way more pageviews.
    • Suggestions for expansion (from Vipul); don't limit yourself just to these:
      • Probably we should add more column(s) to classify by the theory or approach that the row is about. These columns may be blank for some rows.
      • There should be more context on individual rows, including possibly some context that explains the significance and current standing. The idea is that readers reading it should have a sense of the ups and downs of specific theories in the marketplace of ideas.
      • Things like Wikipedia Views, Google Trends, Google Ngram viewer
      • Maybe some charts of things based on Google Scholar, research budgets, etc.

By June 28, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of calorie restriction (new timeline, currently only a collection of links)
    • Vipul's reason for marking as priority work:
      • Harmony with other work: This might fit well with the work on timeline of senescence research.
      • Existence value: Googling for timeline of calorie restriction does not currently surface any hits. The timeline, once completed, could be a canonical reference for people interested in how calorie restriction developed.

By July 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)

By August 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of weight loss (currently partially done)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
      • Existence value: Having an official timeline of weight loss would help us understand this fairly important topic.

By September 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of nutritional supplements (?)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
      • Existence value: Supplements are embraced across many branches of medicine, and are considered very importance in prophylactic medicine. It would be good to have a timeline exploring this space.
  • Timeline of vitamin D
    • Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
      • Existence value: Vitamin D may be the single most important micronutrient, as shown in its role in COVID.

By October 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of fats (or fatty acids): An in-depth timeline about the various debates surrounding saturated vs unsaturated fats, cis vs trans, omega-3 vs omega-6, partially hydrogenated oils, etc.
  • Timeline of proteins (or amino acids): An in-depth timeline looking at the role of various kinds of proteins in diet, and our understanding of them.

By November 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of vaccines (Expansion started on June 1, 2020): Expand, restructure, add columns and in particular make it a more useful timeline for people trying to understand vaccines in order to understand the prospects for a coronavirus vaccine.
    • Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
      • Pageviews: The timeline has had 500 pageviews since being published 2018-06-01. It's halfway to the 1000-pageview mark that is sufficient to trigger an expansion.
      • Time since last update: The timeline was last updated 2018-06-01, so it is a little over two years old. This passes the minimum threshold of one year, but is not enough to be sufficient for an expansion.
      • Topicality (almost sufficient): Vaccines are a subject of discussion these days with potential coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines in the works.
    • Suggestions for expansion (from Vipul):
      • Cover single-dose versus multi-dose
      • Role of "inactivated" or "attenuated" to distinguish vaccines from variolation, any events related to different forms of inactivation
      • Distinguish different kinds of vaccines: attenuated, inactivated, inactivated with antibodies, mRNA
      • Is there a distinction between vaccines on type of pathogen (virus, bacteria, protist e.g. malaria, fungus/worm)? Or based on mode of transmission (insects, water, air, human-to-human)
      • Cutter incident (polio vaccine that wasn't properly inactivated)
      • Risk of vaccines causing more severe form of the disease later due to antibody-dependent enhancement
      • How vaccine effectiveness is measured, and effectiveness estimates
      • Role of mass vaccine rollouts in curbing epidemics (?)
      • Evolution of the process of testing vaccines
      • Classification of vaccines based on style of administration (arm or hip injection, oral vaccine?)
      • Anti-vaccine movements and vaccine mandates

By December 15, 2021 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of Tesla, Inc. (expansion; give priority to incremental expansion but feel free to expand earlier content if time and interest)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking as priority work:
      • Time since last update (sufficient in isolation): The timeline passes the "five years since the last update" threshold; it has not undergone any significant expansion on Timelines wiki (it was last updated on Wikipedia, and the last paid update was in 2015).
      • Pageviews: The timeline has had almost 900 views on Timelines wiki as of mid-July 2020. At this rate, it should get 1,000 views by the due date of the expansion.
      • Qualitative outdatedness: The subject of the timeline has had significant updates in the last few years (and its stock price has grown like crazy), to the point that the timeline feels quite outdated.
    • Sebastian: Google Trends and Wikipedia Views. Compare with SpaceX and other Musk companies.

By January 15, 2022 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of artificial intelligence (new timeline)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking this as priority work:
      • Existence value: A good, solid timeline of artificial intelligence will complement the timeline of AI safety by providing a good background of the AI landscape relevant for AI safety.
    • Sebastian: First deadline date: April 1, 2020

By February 15, 2022 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of robotics (new timeline)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking this as priority work:
      • Existence value: A good, solid timeline of robotics will complement the timeline of AI safety by providing a good background of the AI landscape relevant for AI safety.
    • Sebastian: First deadline date: April 1, 2020

By March 15, 2022 (start/continue any time)

  • Timeline of machine learning (expand and possibly revamp the existing content in the timeline as well)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking this as priority work:
      • Existence value: A good, solid timeline of machine learning will complement the timeline of AI safety by providing a good background of the AI landscape relevant for AI safety.
      • Pageviews: The pretty skeletal version of the timeline has had 400 pageviews on Timelines wiki since the launch of Timelines wiki.
    • Sebastian: First deadline date: April 1, 2020

By April 15, 2022 (don't start more than 180 days before due date)

By May 15, 2022 (don't start more than 240 days before due date)

  • Timeline of WeWork (expansion; incremental expansion only)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking this as priority work:

By July 15, 2022 (don't start more than 240 days before due date)

  • Timeline of 5G (expansion; incremental expansion only)
    • Vipul's reasons for marking this as priority work:

By July 1, 2023 (start/continue any time from July 1, 2021 onward)

By January 1, 2024 (start/continue any time from January 1, 2022 onward)

Suggested time-sensitive content

With time-sensitive content, the idea may be to add a few additional important recent events to a timeline, without doing a systematic expansion. So, there may be holes in coverage. The "focused coverage period" banner on top can help to clarify the situation.

In some cases you may decide to do a more complete expansion while adding time-sensitive content, but this should be done only if time and mood permit.

  • Timeline of online food delivery (one of the most viewed timelines):
    • COVID-19 has probably boosted online food delivery a lot? This may deserve a mention.✔
    • DoorDash IPO (filed for one on November 13, IPO date still unclear)✘
      • Sebastian: It filed confidentially on February 27, 2020, but maybe we should wait until it becomes effective, as it remains private as of date.
      • Sebastian: let me further expand
  • Timeline of Salesforce and timeline of Slack: Add the definitive agreement by Salesforce to acquire Slack! (requested December 7, 2020)✔ (Sebastian: let me further expand)
  • Timeline of GiveWell: Add 2020 top charities (requested December 7, 2020); btw, I (Vipul) am okay with doing a more complete incremental expansion which might only include a couple of additional rows, but just adding top charities is fine.
  • Timeline of Animal Charity Evaluators: Add 2020 top charities (requested December 7, 2020); btw, I (Vipul) am okay with doing a more complete incremental expansion which might only include a couple of additional rows, but just adding top charities is fine.

Not ready

Returned with feedback

  • Timeline of contact tracing in the COVID-19 pandemic
    • I don't see launch events for the contact tracing apps in South Korea and Vietnam; the first events I see are for things happening well after launch. Can you check on launch dates?✔
    • I would love to see more events under "Userbase"✔, "Education"✔, and "Performance"✔ -- in particular "Performance"; in particular wherever possible, when we sort/group by country, we should be able to get a mini-timeline starting with mobile app launch / protocol integration, then going on to userbase and performance. Or something similar.
    • I'm wondering if instead of a summary by year we should use smaller time periods over which to have rows? There's probably two or three periods within 2020 (initial surge, then second half of the year before vaccines) and then 2021 is the vaccine rollout period.
  • Timeline of cognitive biases (Requested on January 6, 2020)
    • Issa: "1753: the anthropomorphism row has "availability bias" in the bias type column. Is that because anthropomorphism is a kind of availability bias (human-like models come to mind more easily?) or should that instead say anthropomorphism?"✔ (Sebastian:I removed the bias type till I'm certain)
    • Issa:"Semmelweis effect: I think this row does not explain where the name of the effect comes from. My guess is that it comes from the way people rejected Semmelweis's discovery and refused to wash hands despite evidence of it working well. It would be good to explain that."✔
    • Issa: "bandwagon effect: there's a row in 1848 that talks about first usage, and another one in 1906 that doesn't mention the 1848 one. If the term was coined in 1906, then maybe say something like how the idea and "jump on the bandwagon" phrase already existed, but the name of the effect was newly coined?"✔ (Sebastian: I clarified the 1848 row, which is when the "jump on the bandwagon" phrase first appears. The term "bandwagon effect" would be coined later, in 1906,according to the info obtained.)
    • Issa: " is the gambler's fallacy a more specific version of the monte carlo fallacy? They seem closely related so I would mention each in the other's row."✔ (Sebastian:Although the term "Monte Carlo fallacy" originates from the best known example, it appears to be the same bias)
    • Issa: "1920 halo effect row: it seems like you repeat some of the info e.g. "The term was coined by psychologist Edwin Thorndike in 1920."[53][54] -- Thorndike and the year 1920 are already mentioned earlier in the row. I would integrate all the info into a coherent paragraph so that it flows better when reading."✔
    • Issa: "a similar thing happens in the 1927 Zerigarnik row, where e.g. the journal name is repeated twice"✔
    • Issa: "stereotype: 1850 vs 1922: if the 1850 meaning isn't the modern meaning (it's a little hard for me to tell since the definition given in the 1850 row is pretty vague), I would explicitly state this. Otherwise it's confusing to have two rows claiming first usage."✔/✘(Sebastian: One indicates first reference and the other the first use in the field of psychology. I could remove the 1850 row if indicated though.)
    • Issa: For functional fixedness row, the Einstellung effect may also be relevant (or maybe add Einstellung effect as a new row?)✔
    • Issa: the Stalin quote seems to be disputed, see https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Joseph_Stalin#Misattributed
    • Issa: semantic cues: this is interesting, but is it a bias? (I'm not too clear on what the scope of the timeline is supposed to be)✔ (it's not a bias)
    • Issa: Risk compensation: I didn't know about the left/right example! The example I hear about most (from libertarian types?) is seatbelts vs placing a dagger on the steering wheel, which might paint a more vivid picture for readers.
    • Issa: Some rows don't have a period ending them, e.g. 1967.✔
    • Issa: I think Kahneman receiving the Nobel prize is notable (I think it's the first and possibly only time work on cognitive biases has led to a Nobel?).✔
    • Issa: For Ben Franklin effect, the only row is about when it was first confirmed. It seems more natural to cover when it was first proposed (which seems to be what is going on with most of the other biases)?✘ (Sebastian: First proposals are ideal, but as I couldn't find them for some biases I decided to add content naming the biases at least.)
    • Issa: 1976, ultimate attribution error: I think capitalizing White and Black is a bit confusing (at first I thought it was some made-up labels in a formal model, like White/Black in a game of chess).
    • Issa: There are two rows for the false consensus effect, both in 1977. I would combine the two into a single row.✔
    • Issa: 1998: the definition of implicit-association test is hard for me to understand, e.g. what is a "bipolar target"?✔
    • Issa: 1977, self-reference effect does not have an explanation in the rightmost column.✔
    • Issa: 1979, ultimate attribution error: I am a little confused by the "first established", since there is already an earlier row talking about it. Was it just a formalization before that was "not established" in some sense?✔ Sebastian: The row in 1976 describes an event prior to Pettigrew's formalization (1979) of the bias.
    • Issa: 1979, planning fallacy probably should have a "Belief, decision-making and behavioral" in the second column?✔
    • Issa: This is probably going to take a whole bunch of work, but eventually it would be nice if the rows containing specific studies that were conducted could mention whether the study has been replicated or not.
    • Issa: I haven't gotten there yet in the timeline, but eventually talking about how the heuristics and biases literature became more mainstream would be good (through popular nonfiction books for lay audiences, blog posts, etc). For example I was introduced to this stuff via LessWrong, and I remember that a few years later my dad bought and showed me the book "Brain Bugs" which covers similar territory. Maybe this topic deserves a separate timeline though.
    • Issa: 1986, bizarreness effect: I'm confused by this row because the two columns on the right seem to be saying opposite things. ✔ (Sebastian: The bizarreness effect has been disproved several times).
    • Issa: 1988, Information bias: the event here seems to be missing context. What is "this diagnostic problem"? How is it related to information bias?
    • Issa: 2004: distinction bias sounds a lot like the "less is more" one discussed previously. I think it would be good to highlight connections like this, e.g. by saying something like "A special case of the idea was previously proposed as the less is more bias, but this paper introduces a more general framework that not only includes this, but also include X, Y, Z biases" (or whatever the case may be).
    • 2012, subadditivity effect: I couldn't understand what this meant "an information-theoretic generative mechanism that assumes a noisy conversion of objective evidence (observation) into subjective estimates (judgment)"
