Used much less blood and capillary fill. Bottom left: FreeStyle, by TheraSense (now Abbott). Introduced 2003. 15 second test time, electrochemical. Bottom right: Freestyle Mini, by Abbott. Introduced 2004, this is a smaller version of the FreeStyle. 7 second test time.
